The first pickup for our fall farm subscriptions is this Tuesday, October 2nd, and we are excited to get started. Down here in Catt County the air has begun to be crisp and the leaves are flushing orange. The cooler temperatures are great for many of the crops we have planted, and we are looking forward to sharing them with you.
This fall subscription is a bit of a pilot project for us, the first time Little Bear Farm has sold food this deep into the season, and so we are especially interested in getting feedback from our customers going forward. What should you expect this season? 3-4 varieties of vegetable in the veggie box each delivery, with a focus on fresh greens & roots (beets, carrots, potatoes etc), although there will be some other sorts of vegetables mixed in such as winter squash. You should also expect garlic every delivery, because we grow a lot of it, and we are especially pleased with the fresh taste of our crop.
The delivery schedule will be as follows, with 7 total deliveries: October 2nd, October 9th, October 23rd, November 6th, November 20th, December 4th, and December 18th. Please note that this first week, Oct 2nd, we will be supplying a week's worth of produce and eggs, and then every delivery after that starting on the 9th delivering a double share of food every other week. Each monday before delivery please look for a reminder email with a specific list of vegetables you will receive, as well as updates on vegetable and egg production here on the farm. Depending on whether you have selected to pickup in Hamburg or Buffalo, both delivery sites will be open for pickup between 4 and 6 pm, at 318 Buffalo Street, Hamburg or 271 Grant Street, Buffalo.
