Week 9 -- Let there be tomatoes

Ok Friends, it seems like we are turning a corner weather-wise, and I am pretty excited.  Deep summer vegetables are rounding into season, and it looks like we are going to have a great tomato crop over the next several weeks.

Also included this week are Globe Artichokes, a specialty crop I've been tinkering with for a few years -- we should get a few over the next couple of weeks -- let me know what you think.  There is an ancient debate about whether or not the work it takes to open up and prepare an artichoke is worth the calories inside, but I'll leave that up to you to decide!

Tomatillos are ripening as well, and we should be getting those for a few weeks too.  Great for salsa verde of course, but I've had customers tell me in the past that they make a delicious tomato style soup.  Any place you'd use a tomato or an apple, a tomatillo can be used instead -- delicious with pork.

Thanks to everyone who visited our farm this weekend and picked blueberries -- we had fun, and hope you enjoyed yourself as well.  We plan on having a low key farm day/bbq on August 20th if you missed this weekend, or would like to visit again.
