Week 12 -- a Good Week For Salsa

Hi Friends,

This is a nice salsa we made with ingredients almost entirely from the farm this week -- tomatoes, tomatillos, cucumber, cayenne pepper, cippolini onion, basil, and a little salt, pepper, lime and olive oil.  Great on a hot day.

Here too is a tomatillo salsa recipe shared by a farm member, which comes highly recommended:  http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/tomatillo-salsa/print.  We should continue to have tomatillos, tomatoes, onions and hot peppers for the next couple of weeks (off and on) so this might be a good one to save for the future.

Included this week are Korean style Daikon Radishes, which are spicy good when used fresh, but can also be braised for a delicious taste.

We are including Tomatoes in the bag, but will also have a bin of extra Toms at pick up so you can take more if you would like to make sauce or larger quantities of salsas.  First come first serve.  A good year for Tomatoes!

Finally, we've been growing an harvesting Okra for the past month, but have never had enough all at once to be able to justify putting it in everyone's veggie bag.  If you would like Okra though, please reply to your email, and we will try to include some in everyone's bag who wants some at least once over the next couple of weeks.  A mix of Clemson Spineless (Green) and Burgundy (Red) Okra.
