Little Bear Farm Week 4

Greetings from Little Bear Farm -- Here is a picture of a simple stir fry we made last week -- by now you can probably tell that we are willing to put soft boiled eggs on everything!  Meals like this are a great way to integrate farm produce into a simple, quick lunch or dinner.

Pea Stir-fry
 
1 large clove garlic, minced 
1 T. ginger root, minced
1/8-1/4 teaspoon crushed hot chilies
Heat 1 T. oil in large pan until hot.  Add ingredients and stir-fry until fragrant, about one minute.
 
2-3 cups snow peas and/or sugar snap peas, cut in 1-inch pieces
Add to pan and cook until crisp-tender, about 3 mins
 
1 t. soy sauce
1 t. sesame oil
Stir in.  Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds (optional) and salt to taste.  
 
We added a soft boiled egg as well and served over rice.  We also added some greens to the stir-fry.  
 
We have officially scheduled a family farm day for Saturday, August 20th.  We will have farm tours, a cookout, hiking and more.  Please put it on your calendars!  In July (date TBD) we will also be hosting a blueberry picking day at a neighboring farm, so stay tuned.  Both of these dates will allow you to see the progress we are making on the farm, our plans for future expansion, and the progress being made on building our new home.
 
This week's veggies are very similar to last week, but this is probably the last week that includes lettuce for at least a month, so enjoy -- coming in July are things like Summer Squash, Beans, Beets, Turnips, Cabbage etc.
